Seth, Great job, please show more. I think miniatures that are other than historical in subject matter are most welcome.~Gary

Hi Seth, long time no see!

Looks cool. What's he sculpted with? As I recall you're a fimo user?
And a change in scale too.

    Looking forward to seeing more

garyjd: Thanks :) I will post more shots at the end of tomorrow by which time I think that I will have moved the head to a better position, just doesn't look right at the moment.

RobH: ello! for this one I'm using a super sculpey, sculpey three, fimo mix although it's very scimilar to the new extra firm grey clay that 's only recently become available on these shores.

I've been doing a lot of 1/8th-1/6th scale practice pieces recently so it was nice to do something smaller again :)

Looks great. Love the sci-fi stuff.

question: when do you use Sculpey and when do you use Sculpey III?

    Thanks,
    Brian

hi Brian, I use the two together by mixing super sculpey with black sculpey III to get a bit of contrast into the clay, and to get rid of that nasty translucence that super sculpey has. Then I just add fimo to firm it up a bit.

i guess that I could just use black fimo but thats a bit too easy :)

I mix one 2 ounce package of white and one 2 ounce package of black Sculpey III and get almost a battleship gray color. It comes in several colors and the resulting color does not matter as long as it makes tool marks and such more visible.~Gary

Ahhhhh... so your mixing is just for color... Couldn't ya just throw in a simple dye (e.g., food coloring)?

The FIMO to firm it up makes sense.

You know Midwest Clay is now making it in grey, right? No more mixing required. :)
