Yes, that figure is already in production by Art Girona. It's a Spanish infantryman 1812, during the Peninsular War.

It doesn’t look like a Latorre figure to me, not quite his style, more a Diego Fernández Fortes, looks very good though...

It's been indeed sculpted by Raul Garcia Latorre (even to the same percussion musket he made for his minutemen trio ), and it's already available

The fact that he's been giving recent figures a percussion musket/rifle instead of a proper flintlock just because it's an available part just shows he's doing cookie cutter figures and cutting corners however and wherever possible. Sorry but the "style" excuse/argument does not wash here.~Gary

I have to agree with Gary. IMHO Mr. Latorre, "shot his bolt."

Sorry guys, I do not agree.

There is no way this is a Latorre figure. Just because the sculptor used a "generic" part that Latorre has used in the past does not make it a Latorre figure!

There is no way in hell that Latorre sculpted those "stove-pipe" arms. Even on his worst day, Raul would not do this. There are certain stylistic things that are dead give-aways. This is one of them. I suggest that people have a look at the arms on Latorre's latest release and compare them to the arms on this figure. They are no way created by the same hand! I am not a gambler, but I am willing to bet on this........

Having been in the biz a long time, and not having a "real" job (much like Latorre) it is necessary, for monetary reasons, to make use of whatever generic bits you can reuse. Anything that saves time is just money in the bank. This is just a fact of life for us full time professionals. If some here think this is a cop-out, then I suggest they try to make a living off of the marginal fees that are paid for military miniatures. That is why I spend most of my time doing projects for toy companies. It is just a matter of survival.

I am sorry if this offends some people here. I realize this is only a hobby for most of you. If you could walk a mile in my shoes, you would probably see these things in a different light.

    Cheers!!

Whoever sculpted it (and I'm not ready to bet the mortgage that it wasn't LaTorre), putting a percussion musket on a Napoleonic figure is indefensible.

    Hello to all.
Mike, better you don´t bet because you will lose your money.
I was talking with Raúl in Gerona last weekend about this figure and I offered him the Brown Bess and the spanish musket I have made for At Girona for further projects.
He is a talented sculptor for nature (one of the best nowadays) but he is equally uninterested in historical detail. You can take it or leave it but all his figures are selling in very high numbers.

Okay! I am sitting here chowing down on a big, steaming plate of crow as I write this! Mmmmmmmm, ...........URK!

Well, I must say that this is an example of cutting corners. Indeed, I have been there myself. It can be hard to please the demands of quality when the rent is due and the bank account is empty! Been there, done that.

All I can say is that this is not one of Raul's better pieces. It is a good thing I am NOT a gambler! ...............uuuurrrkk!

    Mike
