    Hello all fellows,

I got finally the desicion to make a present to myself for my birthday and purchace the Sheperd Payne's book (the Bible for lots of figurerers).
If anyone is selling one, or knows a source selling it, please let me know, since i can't really find it.
Thank you all in advance, and happy painting/scultping all.

Hi Xenofon, his surname is spelled Paine, that'll help to search for the books online :)

I just did a quick search on Abebooks, and there don't appear to be any cheap secondhand copies available (I presume you don't want to pay $80+ for it!) I checked the Kalmbach publishing site and it doesn't appear to still be in print so you can't buy it new directly from them either, which might account for the high price of used copies. There is a listing on Abebooks for How To Build Dioramas going cheap, which is worth having.

Check back on any of the secondhand-book sites every now and then, a cheap copy might turn up. The other big site for secondhand titles is Alibris but Amazon and Barnes & Noble are worth checking too - they've both moved into this lucrative area now. These all tend to have the same books listed from the same sellers but you might see a difference every now and then so you might like to try searching in Used Book Search or Bookfinder.

    Hello Xenofon,

You might keep an eye on eBay. Paine's figure book shows up there from time to time. Although it often gets bid up into the stratosphere, I managed to get a copy for about the cover price.

I agree with Einion about Paine's How to Build Dioramas. It's definitely worth having, and the 2nd edition is still in print. It's available from Squadron. Some of the same information from the figure book is included in the diorama book.

Yes it's in spanish, although pictures and drawings are self-explanatory. But I understand it may be a problem if you don't know spanish.
