battle damage on shield

I would like to have a resin shield look like it's been hit and damaged by weapons (swords etc) any suggestions?

    Hi

Do you mean that you are wanting to have some cuts in the leather covering? If so, you can make gashes in the resin, or put a very thin layer of putty over the shield, and slice that up.

If you want more serious damage, then you'll have to hack it up a bit, and try to show the look of splintered wood. I'm not sure how to accomplish that.

Given that shields appear to have been disposable items, you should show just new damage, not the look of some leftovers from previous campaigns.

Many slashes and cuts could simply be painted on. One dark line with a highlight above or beneath depending on the cut.
