    Hi Guys

Does anybody know if there is a distributor of Hudson and Allen Diorama products in the UK, just wondering if its possible to get hold of any of these fine products without having to order from the US......

    Thanks

Ahhhhhh Dave, the great H&A hunt!

I've seen discussions on other sites about their stuff and it's notoriously hard to find! The sale of accessories is secondary to their main business of diorama making, and supply is notoriously hard.

I've picked up some bits from F&F Models at shows, and it usually involves a lot of rummaging around. No supplier as such that i know of. I got bits from the states, and even that was hard to get hold of!

Is there anything you're after in particular?

    Hi Rob

I was after some of their grasses and shrubbery, realy just on the hunt for anything, for future use, it just seems there is a hole the market in this country along with base manufacturers being limited suppliers.... I will live in hope

    thanks

    Hi Dave

Like Rob, I've got the odd bit of H&A from John Burrows at F&F, but he finds it difficult to get in. Apparently H&A are primarily a supplier to museums and exhibits for use in big dioramas, and supplying the modelling trade is a spin-off.

When I look at some of the stuff incorporated in the groundwork of some of our overseas friends, I have to wonder where they source it eg. the chrysanthemums on the base of the samurai officer recently posted. They looked real!

Someone suggested a while ago looking round the acquatic suppliers for the various bits of fish-tank greenery which can be dried and adapted. I keep meaning to do that - maybe this weekend :)

Let me know if you find anything useful and I'll do the same

    Cheers

Dolls House accesories are good for 90mm or 120mm, but you can get away with some of them in 54mm - eg. the flowers on the base of my lacrosse players.

I think everyone has problems with supplies of H & A - here or Stateside. I buy mine from Military Miniatures Warehouse, New Jersey who offer an excellent service to the UK.

Right you are, King, Hudson & Allen is a cottage industry operation that seems to ship irregularly. If you Google "Hudson & Allen Studios" you MAY come up with a local dealer in your area.

I get most of my H&A stuff at the local train show, so that might be another source for you. Their address is below. Also the Michigan Toy Soldier sells H&A, but I do not know if they ship outside the USA. Hope this is helpful.

Another thought is to use dried flowers or other vegetation available at local flower shops or craft stores.

Dear Dave, I dunno if you've ever heard of these people. I remembered them just now as I browsed through my 'favouties' for something else... I've not used them personally, but they have a wide range of stuff on there.

I don't know if this will be of any use right now, but it might be useful for later in the year.
H&A used to sell packs of miniature leaves, which were actually seed pods off silver birch trees. They become available in the late summer - the two trees in my garder were throwing the darn things all over the place last August, and I collected quite an amount. The seeds need separating from the stems and other bits of the dead flower that hold them, but it's a good source for them if you can be bothered and have the time.
They can also be dyed I suppose, but I haven't tried that, as paintg with an airbrush is usually enough.

    Dave,

Another option to your scenery needs may be answered by my seven year old son. Two years ago he started his own line of groundwork and scenery supplies (Bryce's Scenery and Stuff) and they can be viewed on my website at www.tlbminiatures.com
He has quite a line now and is always adding more items. He has sold alot of his stuff and the feedback has been very positive, many repeat customers and such. It's also a great way to keep my yard clean in the summer and fall! ;)
And no worries, he ships everywhere. The shipping information for all of our products can be found on my order form page right on the site.

    Hope this helps!
