Bill has painted one of the OIF Marines, he says that painting the camo is a little tricky. The rifle strap is made fron sheet lead, not included in the Warriors kit. Anders Heintz is busily working on two 2 figure OIF insurgents figure sets, I managed to sneak a photo of one of the in progress insurgents while Anders was out on a smoke break.

The camo looks extremely realistic. Good job, Bill! Care to share with us your technique?

Also, any word when this first "painted" figure will be released? Just curious ...

The camo does look great, as does the rest of the figure.

    Very nice work guys.

Anders or Bill: what is the pink putty you are using?

    Hola Francesca.

The color is just me being bored with white putty so I have started to color the Aves Apoxie Sculpt with Vallejo Acrylics. That specific shade was obtained by adding a few drops of Cadmium Red while mixing part A and B together.

Bill really liked the baby blue I used for the mannequin though, but I decided to swap 'em around a bit.

Heh, that's pretty funny. I've heard of people mixing acrylics in to color it, but never done it myself. Do you cure things in a crockpot or let them air dry? I wonder if having the paint mixed in would change properties if speed-dried with heat.

    Hola Francesca,

The acrylics dont seem to be interfereing with the curing ability of the putty. I always speed dry the putty in either a crock pot or under a 100W lightbulb as it will cure harder then it would if air dried.

    David-
Very well done. I am envious of your skill, 'cause 4 months later my own try at "Little Dudes" still look terrible. You managed to make it look smooth. My cap off to you and your work.

    Mr. Heintz-
Your project is coming along very well. My feeble skills not withstanding, even unfinished, it is more accurate than my attempt to take existing kits and make something work - the only thing I've been able to scuplt with putty are three deep incisions in my left thumb (though the blood was realistic on my still unpainted figure). While I try not to super-impose cross-hairs every time I look at it, you have effectively captured the tension and body language we saw quite often. You have done your homework very well, and I will set aside funds for your kits when they are completed. My hat off to you as well.

    Hello Henry,

Thanks for all of the kind words and input, all of the credit for your accolades however go to my business partner/sculptor/friend Bill Chilstrom. He sculpted and painted the OIF Marine.

I simply provide him research material, verify the pose and anatomy and provide targeted creative input where necessary.
