Death Dealer's I and II

    Hello all,

Here's a couple of 54MM pieces I sculpted based on Frank Frazetta's "The Death Dealer" artwork. For the first one, I converted an Airfix horse and sculpted the figure and remaining "horse furniture" on it with Apoxie Sculpt. The second one is an original piece. The skeleton's on the base are from Warriors. Both are painted with Vallejo's and Mr. Metal. Thanks for your time. Look forward to your comments.

    Cheers,
    Bob Waltman

Nice to see these figures again Bob. A couple of questions though. How did you do the blood in the water? I remember it was "swirling" around and looked really good. Also, were both of these sculpted with Knead-a-tite or Ave's?

    Thanks,
    Jim Patrick

    Hey Jim,

After pouring the clear resin, and while it was still wet, I started dropping red dye (from Micro Mark) in it and then "swirling it with a toothpick. I kept doing this until the resin started to set. If you look through the Micro Mark catalog, you'll find the set of dyes that are specifically for the resin. As for the figs, all of the "soft" items (clothes, skin, fur) was sculpted with the Apoxie. The "hard" items (mail, helmet, shield, leather so forth) were sculpted with the kneadatite. The weapons are styrene and kneadatite. The chains are a model railroad product.

    Take care,
    Bob Waltman

    Great Work Bob!

How did you go about painting those little sqares on the #2 guys legs and arms?

    Thanks everyone,

    Anders,
I painted them one at a time with Mr. Metal aluminium. Once they dried, I buffed them out with an artist stump (the rolled, pointed paper stick). It was the "easiest" way I had to recreate the effect in the painting. ;) Needless to say, I went through a "few" adult beverages on that one.

Bob, Nice. I was/am a huge Frazetta fan when I was in highshcool. It's always neat to see something different.~Gary
