Thanks for all the kind comments. I had some fun painting this one and I think I will try another Napoleonic.

    Pete,

I swear I just used the bottle that said Pegaso's Napoleon blue coat! I did the gold lace on the coat by painting the base in ochre's. I then took the Old Gold from Vallejo and added some Chocolate brown to it and then made some very light passes over the ochre areas. For the fringe and the hat I made it lighter and highlighted and shadowed the area and then took the old gold and made some very diluted washes and passed it across it.

The blue was Andrea Prussian blue + dab of black + dark blue grey

Highlight: base + more dark blue grey + a dab of #809 Royal Blue (Vallejo)

I then just kept going up adding more of the Royal Blue

shadows were just base and adding more black until pure black was the deepest shadow.

    Frank,

You are to kind! I really look forward to seeing your Napoleon.

    Luca,

That is just paint. I cannot do the washes without making a mess. I just keep the paint really thin and keep building it up.

    Terry,

Thanks. You can say thanks to Gary for the idea on the ruins. I took some sculpty and cooked it, then broke it and it made some nice ruins. The fun thing is that I then went to the Internet and found out the spelling of my family in hieroglyphics and then carved them into the stones. ;)

    Jim,

Thanks and I look forward to the sand. I hope to start on the whites soon.

    Hey guys,

Thanks. This was a first for me doing all the lace but I am happy so far but know that I can try to make it better on the next ones.

Joe has done a great job on this figure also. The sculpting on the figure is fantastic. it looks to be the type of figure that paints itself.~Gary

The leather top of the boots looked really good. They had a very realistic leather look to them.
