Soldat de Plom 2004 has been held this past weekend. It was a terrific experience, with about 1000 figures on show and the attendance of some of the best modellers in the world ( Bill Horan, Raul Garcia Latorre, Canone Bros...). Some 200 pics at Lilliput will give an idea of what could be seen. Enjoy! HERE

BTW, Soldat the Plom staff anounced they have officially asked to host World Expo 2008.

Thanks for that link, Luis. EXCELLENT!! So much inspiration. looks like a great show!

Have to admit, IMHO, Bill Horan is still the most consistent and creative 54mm animators and painters out there; love those napoleonic french line infantry marching - just superb!!

It would be great to have a spanish World Expo. I wish them luck.

Excellent pics. Looks like a fantastic show. I really like how some of the figures were made into single figure vignettes with the addition of some wonderful scenics.

    Luis,

Thanks for the pictures. There was some really nice work. Would you happen to know who is producing the bust that were in the pictures. I think I saw one that was from Latorre but I am interested in the grouping that had the highlander and the Wizard, maybe Gandalf?

    Thanks,

    Joe

    Guy and Joe,
All those busts in the pic are modelled by Enrique Rubio, a young spanish sculptor. He's currently looking for a company who wants to market them, but AFAIK, he's found none yet. Maybe in a near future...

Thanks very much for the link. I saved about 20 pics for my own reference folder.

Great stuff. Love those busts. I feel very confident that he'll find a distributor!

    Hey Luis,

Tell him to try and contact VLS. Maybe they would have an interest.

    Thanks again,

Thx Luis for the link. I've seen some very intesting subjects in these pictures. Indeed, they are very inspirational. I mean, I'm floored, awed..I lack the words to describe my admiration at such high quality work. ... (y)

Glad to see Bill Horan discovered the Battle of Waterloo !!! Wow, Excellent stuff, the man is still in the forefront of the hobby - now I hope some manufacturors will be inspired too to do French Imperial Guard Grenadiers in greatcoats at Waterloo; I secretly say my prayers that there will be one in 120mm ! :)

Thanks for the link Paco........Enrique sure does a beautiful job in his sculpting. Hopefully some day they will be available commercially. I love the seated Mongol he has done....reminds me of Jullian Hullis' work in that time era.

    Thanks again.

Those busts of Enrique's are some of the best I've seen I would be a starter to buy most of them if he ever finds someone to market them.
