I just received the mentioned figure and trying to figure out the trouser/boot arrangment. It seems they are attached at the inseam and maybe a leather strip going up to and around the crotch of the trousers? Does anyone know if there is any information about the uniform anywhere, one of the Osprey books?

    I would appreaciate any help.

OK, I found the figure you're talking about. I have some references on this uniform. I'll send something to you this evening.

Alter looking at the figure more carefully, it seems the lower part of the trousers are maybe leather which runs up the inseam, giving me the first impression that they were a pair of log boots, but now it's more clear, but would still like anything anyone could provide. It is a great figure but no real painting instructions.

That's right Craig. My references show that those type of overalls were worn in the Crimea. As soon as I can get my scanner up and running again I'll send you some pics.

This figure from what I can find depicts the 4th light Dragoons (The Queens Own). I started this figure about a month ago and have it done waist up and am also stuck on the trousers. If you dont mind I could use a little visual help as well.

    Thanks,

Barry thanks for the help, do you think the the leather is black or brown?

    Noel,

    You're welcome.

I don't have any firsthand evidence, but all the illustrations I have show them as black, including the Fosten paintings in the Mollo book.
