After a 6 month break away from busts, this is my latest piece,it depicts a French Artilleryman dated 1797 during the Italian Campaign.
The bust is produced by Mitches Military Models and is 1/9th scale in resin.
the bust itself comes in 11 parts I believe, the casting is crisp and very well done, with minimal filling, their is a small section of cannon barrel included in the kit for the plinth,I decided to make my own and have the kit part for another project.
mostly with all my other pieces I’ve done over the years,I like to add something of a back drop or related items to the piece itself, for this piece I opted for a section of stone wall which was finished in oils, also added were part of the rammer and a small metal type scoop which was used to remove the waste after each cannon fire,I also added some cannon balls which I rolled out of magicsculp putty.
it was a nice piece to choose for me to get back into things,it’s not been a great last two years for me personally and I lost my mojo for painting,.
