Review WWII US Airborne, Drop Order from Mitches

I just got this one in and eager to build it, but have a few things in the queue, so thought I’d share a quick review. The set comes packed in a black box, with parts divided between two ziplock baggies and wrapped with bubble wrap.

The figure is fully loaded with gear, so there is a lot to paint here, and to figure out in terms of placement as there is no instruction sheet, though plenty of pics online so not too hard to work it out. You get a choice of two left arms with different division patches, and two helmets, with and without the bandage pack.

One of the most interesting aspects is the C47 door wedge for display, which seems as if it will go together fairly easily.

Details is decent, though there are a ton of molding gates to trim and a good bit of flash as well. Most will be easy to deal with, but there is one ragged step in the molding inside the plane wall that will need some work.

Because of the number of pieces and necessary clean-up, this one isn’t for beginners, but will build up into an impressive display piece.

Looks like a great piece, should look good when painted up. The set up reminds me of the old Verlinden B-17 waist gunner. I've shelved that one for the time being, for a similar issue, with the fuselage of the plane. Although the Verlinden kit has two parts to the fuselage, with a large seam/gap between the two halves, and I got tired of filling, snading, filling, sanding... and right next to the seam, you guess, theres a row of finely engraved rivets..

I have come across a few kits from Mitch that have such mould slip issues.

Also, why is there a hole in the door?? Why not simply open the door, or remove it if required?

I wondered the same thing. The door had a removable panel in the center that was pulled out and stowed when dropping paratroops. For short runs, the panel was just left entirely off.
