If you liked the Old Cowboy ( Sam Elliott) bust digitally sculpted by Sid Naique hopefully you will like the detail in the next group of his busts I am adding to Scale Collectables

The 5 busts are made up of the main characters from the Sons Of Anarchy TV show and will give figure artists something a bit different to paint

The standard size will be 1/5th scale but there will also be the option for different sizes on request

I have run a few test prints for the Chibs Telford bust and am delighted by the amount of detail in the finished examples

The busts will be in two parts and printed in high resolution in grey resin

I have to say the likeness of them all is very good indeed. The print has come out very well too well done.

Just curious, as to why the patches on the cut-offs are not sculpted on?

wow ! spot on likeness for each of the characters, being a massive SOA fan im a bit surprised that you've not sculpted the club patches ?
thats what they are, the sons of anarchy !
the cut that they wear is earned, and they wear it with pride, think you should revise them all and add the patches, this will make the set even better than they already are.

Having the Colours as a seperate piece, on the base, would be a nice touch.
As these are busts without a back as such, I wasn't refering to the Colours and Rockers, but rather the name and rank badges on the chest. Those are rather prominent, and in a way as important as the Colours themselves.
You're right, they shouldn't be to hard to add with a bit off putty, I'm just surprised that such a prominent detail was missed, on such otherwise excellent sculpts.

I have to admit I haven't seen the series, but all the same these busts look amazing and I recognise one of the actors, Ron Perlman
The detail is excellent. These I think will prove very popular like the Shea Brennan bust.

The 1/5th busts will be £25 plus p+p. I will be adding the rest of the set over the next couple of weeks. If a full set was ordered I would do a bundle deal

Well, this is where 3D crosses the divide of reality, IMHO. These are awesome, but like the candle stick maker, the carriage driver, and the widget maker, they will always be ahead of a computer generated image! Don't get me wrong, these are awesome, but I'm missing the artistic value in it all. Ya, comp guys got mucho talent, but nothing beats the "pencil, putty knife, or the brush", IMHO.

I know I'll get some flak for my thoughts on this, but who gives a rip, I don’t! These busts look great, but nothing beats the artistic "human" touch. Beware, Gentlemen, it only takes one step at a time and then, before ya know, what is reality? Something to ponder. But remember, it is done slowlyyyyyyyyyy.

Just to reply to your comment Steve and shed some light on the digital sculpting that Sid Naique does

The models will have many weeks if not months of work put into them and every crease, fold, wrinkle, eyelash and piece of hair will be sculpted in digital format the same way it would have to be in clay etc
I don’t know if it’s a misconception that the sculpts are rendered by just scanning an image of the chosen subject but this would far from actual process

I am looking to have my own range of busts developed and the artist has supplied hand drawn concept pics which are in pencil and ink and I really don’t think their artistic skill could be questioned and many sculptors would be trained artists that have decided to use a digital format instead of clay or modelling putty to develop their work

I do appreciate your comments and think it’s a good base for a debate on the subject of 3D printed models

Thanks for taking the time to explain the process a little more clearly, that definitely helps. I knew there was a lot of work involved, but not that in depth, incredible.

The other half of the equation would be a clean 3D print. I understand the technology of the resin and printers have taken leaps to obtain this quality shown, but I was not understanding the depth of the program manipulation involved in meeting that end goal. It’s good to know the artistic touch has not actually been lost in the process.
