    Hello
Freshly finished and photographed. Perhaps I went a little bit crazy with nmm's and their specularity but boy what a fun journey was that. My favorite part to paint: face and armor . Worst golds ,cape and crest. :p Enjoy! roman-optio-003.jpg roman-optio-004.jpg roman-optio-005.jpg roman-optio-006.jpg roman-optio-007.jpg

Not a great fan of the NMM approach but I must admit this looks fantastic.

Absolutely brilliant, he's painted to a very high standard in your own style, I come from the battle worn, weathered more realistic camp but this a lovely result.

Beatifully painted. Good to see an Imperial Italic type D helmet. The crestus transversalis indicated the rank of Centurion, not Optio, regardless of the armour worn.

Thank you ,mate:) but on a more serious note after 3 busts in nmm I need to do something else. And I have perfect bust for a quick true metal exercise so why not. :)

This is amazing! I have thought to try some NMM but it really scares me, more than the transitions it is where to put the highlights and shadows to make it believable. You have done an explendid work because you have also applied reflections on it.

Your standard of painting is excellent as is your execution of the NMM.
I must admit that I am frequently disappointed that metals, especially of the ancient and medieval periods are represented as so shiny, almost as they are modern materials (stainless steel and brass) It is my belief that iron would almost be black and bronze would be brown with maybe a hint of shininess occurring in areas of wear. The amount of impurities in the metal and oxidisation would render them very dull very quickly. Rant over .... My feelings, however, should not detract from your excellent skills in realising this artwork.

    Hi there

I take my hat off to you for all the NMM , very hard to get right , it works well on this piece and needs to be viewed in reality to get the full effect IMO
