Frontierswoman Protecting the Homestead 1880s

A brave Frontierswoman stands defiantly in the face of danger to protect her daughter and the homestead as a whole.

I just completed this vignette last night just in time for my wife's Birthday today. When I was not very pleased with the figures I was planning on using for her gift, I had to find an alternative, and on New Years Day I started this project. The figures are from Masterbox and were painted with acrylics. The house facade was from a figure kit from a German manufacturer whose name I do not recall. The roof was cut from a section of a roof from a Verlinden gas station kit. The groundwork is Magic Sculpt textured with a toothbrush and colored with pigments. The tufts of grass are from Vallejo and Army Painter. The other plants are preserved plants from Diorama Resepe.

I think it turned out fairly decent for a six day project, is colorful, and most importantly, my wife loves it and that is what counts.

    Great job!
Have you thought of adding something to the scene to hint at the threat to the family?
For instance an arrow or tomahawk in the wall.
    Have fun. Regards ...

Thanks for the positive comments. Not used to the brighter colors as I normally paint figures wearing either Olive Green or Camouflage uniforms, but this was a nice change of pace and the brighter colors probably attract more attention. There may be a few more projects like this in the future.

You know, when I first decided to use these figures for this vignette, I trying to figure out how to show what the threat might be and was thinking about a coyote or bear but the base was too small to show that. Thanks for the idea about the arrow or tomahawk in the wall as a way to hint what the threat might be to the family. Before I bring it to a show, I will need to add an arrow or two to this scene.

    Cheers,
