Operation Infatuate 1 nov 1944

    In nov 1944 the allies tried to capture the coasts of the river Schelde in South-West Netherlands, in order to liberate Antwerpen. Therefore they invaded the isle of Walcheren and landed at Vlissingen and Westkapelle.
    Years ago I made a little dio of Commando's no 2, Dutch troop fighting in the streets of Westkapelle.
    Figures are SHQ, painted in Humbrols. Street is made of plaster, cardboard etc. I tried to represent the little houses in Westkapelle and the typical black barns

    Nice..this was significant operation for Canadians..and my grandfather /great uncle…but I didn’t know about the Dutch commandos..very cool

    Grasshopper, the Canadians fought at South Beveland. They had to cross a dam and were just sitting ducks for the germans. Every year in oktober there is a memory walk to conmemmorate the brave canadians
