Hi all here is preview of our latest bust in the AWI series. It was sculpted by Offo and I have to say he did a great job as always.

It represents an officer of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers 1775. It will be released shortly and will be up on our website over the weekend.

    Thank you for looking

    Steve

Superb sculpting but shouldn't there be a regimental badge on the belt plate?

I believe the Belt plate should have been Gilt Oval with the P of W Feathers & Fig 23 below in Silver.

Could I also suggest that the back of the fur cap isnt as flat as sculpted, with the rear panel slightly smaller in diameter..? I may be wrong!(y)

    Hi folks

Been having a look around , found a article in Military illustrated Past & Present # 26 from July 1990

    IMG_2726.JPG IMG_2727.JPG

FYI buttons were with the same details as swordbelt plate , gorget had satin blue rosettes held to a regimental button on collar as in pic ......but sometimes worn around neck on a ribbon.

Shouldn't be too difficult to reshape the plate on bust ....if you wish

    Happy days

The Gorget on the Bust looks like it is attached to the Cross belt straps, as you say should be attached to the Tunic by roseetts or a Blue ribbon around the neck.

Hi sorry late to the thread yes the bust was based on the artwork from the book Nap posted. We have been in contact with people in the USA who gave us different pieces of information on this bust which were past on to Offo. The plate was square shaped early in the war and then went oval later. From what we were told some of the plates were blank for what ever reason

As to the Gorget your right it some times did have rosette but also it was attached with some kind of leather during campaign.

As to the hat we have seen meany photos of this and also drawings which give variations. As far as we know people are happy with the result. I will how ever contact Offo with regards to some of the things brought up

Thank you again for your input

Should be a simple fix if Offo still has the master.

Hi friends, it's always a reconstruction of the form of times long past. And you all know how it goes. You are working on a sculp in the best knowledge that it is right. And then new information is found. I will repair the rosettes on the bib. The belt buckle will be as in the picture that was the original. It's up to all of you great painters to paint the necessary detail on the belt buckle if you need to improve the bust. I believe that in this way I, as a sculptor, will leave you the opportunity to make your own original piece. And as I learned, it's not historically wrong to leave it without any change. Regards Palo offo.

Hi all so glad Offo posted ,I hope it helped with with explaining how we do try our best to get things right. We try and gather info from various sources. Some time they contradict each other and so you have to make a decision and go with it.

Offo does fantastic work and we do try and support him with information as much as we can. We would like to say a big thank you to Offo for going the extra mile with this and to those who gave us the extra info.

The new version will be available very soon.
