    Hi Henk

Now it's happening , the B&W pic really looks period , as you say the larger pics show everything , looking at smaller pulls it all together

Keep at it when you can and more importantly enjoy

    Thanks for updates

    Happy benchtime

I'll be finishing him later, and add him to the shell hole.

    Drumroll please....

I've finished a project, without it spending months on the shelf of shame :). I need to sort out a proper base, but I am not 100% sure how I'm incorporating the small information section that I want to add, explaining who they are, and where. I think the soldiers, and Steve's beautiful sculpts, deserve that.
I've learned a lot actually during this project, probably because I painted four similar figures back to back. Having finally bought the fantastic "Denison" reference book about the British Parachutist smocks, I also gained a beter understanding of the camouflage, and how to approach it. There are some mistakes and things I will do different in future projects (there is a rather sizable queue of WWII British Paras waiting to get on the bench...), but as with all my work, I learn as I go along, and as long as I improve a little bit every time, they don't have to be perfect. I took these pictures with my new photo lighting tent, and my Canon 1200.

I want to thank Steve Ski, for posting his progress on his fantastic rendition, thanks to which my attention got drawn to this set, and of course Steve 1969 from Reedees for casting this set for me in very short time, at a very kind price.

Great job Henk as for the info, why not use the plain sides and back of the actual diorama to display it?

    Thanks Steve. (another Steve?.... :D)

I quite like the idea of a square base, the size of the diorama, to give it some height, with some panels on the side of the diorama. I have another idea, using a nice piece of one inch thick Oak floorboard, with a small panel next to the diorama, but the panels to the side of the diorama is growing on me.

Well done Henk!! I did not realise you had made so much progress with this, great finish to the whole piece and I like you photos, new photo setup works nicely.
I did envisage the sides of the diorama could be used for graphics to be added to tell the story or show the original photo but I also love to see people do their own take on things.
    Excellent job.

Maybe you should start a new 'Completed Thread' to show your finished work off.

    Cheers

Thank you Steve. I'm going to print some ideas and play around d with it. When I finish the base I'm posting a new thread in the "finished work" section.
