Agree with all and the figure has instant appeal, not a very exiting subject but it just seems to want to be in the grey army.

    Hi Paul

Looks like your going to need a bigger cash box at the show

I like the subject , not actioned , just a soldier enjoying a peaceful moment or two before hell ...that Kaz fellow is rather good at this as we see

Nearly had palpitations seeing those resin legs .....lol

Really nicely detailed piece , like the backpack

    Thanks for sharing the info

    Have a great show

There is mention of casting the 3D sculpted work. So I take it that means a 3D print is cleaned up and then used to make a mold and the selling product is a resin copy? Make sense as this would be cheaper in terms of cost as opposed to direct sale of a printed subject?

    regards,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
Exactly. Kaz sent me the file and I printed it. I cleaned up the print, made rubber molds and then cast/reproduced the printed parts the traditional way with resin. Not that it's more economical, it's just easier and quicker to cast resin in rubber as some prints can take 4 or 5 hours to complete. Plus, as you can see from the pics of the castings that Kaz posted, my resin castings are ultra-clean with no casting blocks. Some manufacturers are selling printed parts and the support structure is still attached?!? ...and the piece looks like Notre Dame with all the scaffolding around it !LOL!! Who wants to clean THAT mess up?? well I've done it for you.

    regards,
    Paul

YES! This is the way it should be done. Almost every 3d printed fig I have bought I regretted due to being covered with little nubs, not to mention the visible layers.

...and, Here's another shot of the "cleanly casted resin" parts, Temporarily assembled out of the box.

    Just gets better Kaz!!
Love what you’ve managed to achieve with hands particularly.
Makes the painter’s task so much easier.
And Paul - agree with suggestion abovewould be neat to see it 1/9th. Would be a mammoth & fun challenge!
Thanks for sharing these detail part shots mate.

It has. I was fortunate to get one at MFCA this year and it’s fantastic. I have mine primed and ready for paint. Dave Youngquist for Last Calvary, (highly recommended) told me he’s going to paint one up and post his work on his you tube channel, so I’m waiting for that before I go further.

I'd ping Paul through the website to ask about its availability. He might see this new activity on the thread, but it might be faster to reach him that way. Or shoot him a PM here.

    Prost!

I periodically check his site for this one as well. I assumed it wasn't released yet

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all your enthusiastic interest =). It's not on the website because it hasn't been officially released yet. The few castings I had at MFCA were 'preview' castings. I still need to make the production molds. I hope to have this one ready by the end of the summer. Currently I am pouring new rubber and refreshing molds that have deteriorated (for pieces for which I have standing/back orders). Once I get past that and get "a little closer to almost being caught up" =), I hope to begin releasing all those MFCA previews. Hang in there and keep watching.

    regards,

Crying_Soldier_Vignette.png In the picture I posted of the other figure its actually called the screaming soldier or crying soldier. I suppose he could be suffering from shell shock/battle fatigue.
