    Hi Benny

Good to see this is still being worked on ..it's a ideal learning project especially with the new colours

Looks like it's coming along nicely

Why not enter something in the class of your choice in FOTM , maybe also into the Vignette & Diorama comp , please take the time to consider and also do vote as well

    Thanks for sharing

Look forward to the next update

    Happy benchtime

A little "schwung" (German for boost, but we borrowed this word to Hebrew too) I had today - had some more precious time alone at home today.
Pushed some highlights in the pelisse and started with the cords and buttons. Sorry for the iffy picture. Looks somewhat better in reality.

A whole year since the last update! Anyway, not much, just the boots and the trousers.
I still have to paint some highlights to the trousers and paint their upper border white, as per references.
One of the challenges in this figure is to paint many different black components of the outfit, and still keep the appearance interesting.
    Please do provide you sincere feedback! 11 02 2023 A.jpg 11 02 2023 B.jpg 11 02 2023 C.jpg 11 02 2023 D.jpg

Today was my second attempt at painting the white lace on top of the trousers. It was a pain! In the previous attempt it was too wide and bled beneath the masking (no way I could pull it through without masking...)
This time I kept it narrower (still a tad too wide in my opinion) and made sure to burnish the masking tape well. I used Tamiya masking tape cut to width and Vallejo Ivory 70.918. Still had some bleeding, but it was relatively easy to fix - steady hand, 3/0 brush, and my OptiVisor....
Still not perfect, but I decided to finish with this lace and continue with the rest of the painting in the next session (who knows when...)
Regarding the boots - some references show the boots with and some without white lining/piping. I think I will resist the temptation to paint these and will keep the boots without the white lining.
    Feedback is welcome, Thanks!

All credit to you for preserving with this figure

Definately not the easiest of uniforms to paint

As for using a 3/0 .......your certainly patient !

Keep at it the ends in sight !

    Happy benchtime

In my busy daily life, I learned to cherish every hour here and there on the bench and not expect too much. This figure may well be completed many months from now, but that's okay...

Well done, you are definitely making progress here. You are right, black is hard to do and I think you made the right decision to push the highlights a bit.

    Good morning Planet

After long time without updates, my hussar is nearing completion. I did progress here and there, but did not upload new pictures regularly.
    1. Rifle was painted with wood and metal effect
    2. In a whim I turned him blond
    3. Painted the scabbard metal
    4. painted his right hand
    6. painted the Sabretache. I intended to paint the crest white and the border red and white, but further research indicated that NCOs in the 5th regiment had a plain black leather sabretache.

I got left with some minor corrections and additions, the base, and hope to actually complete this figure soon.

Pictures are not very good. Something is wrong with the interaction between the cellphone camera and my lighting, but that what I got.. All comments are welcome

    Hi Benny

Nice to see updates on this , but this is a difficult colour to paint , liking the blonde hair works well against the main colour

Pics tidied up a bit for you

Look forward to seeing the Completed version

    Have fun @ the bench

Got all caught up.on this and have to say it's an interesting piece, a period I love. Like Nap says black is not easy but you've done a good job with him, I really like it.

Thank you Simon. I am not very experienced miniature painter, and indeed was intimidated by the challenge of predominantly black figure, but enjoyed the challenge.

Good to see some progress here, I think you've done really well and the change to blonde is very effective. Now let's see it finished in under a year!;)
