Completed This figure is older than some of you here...

    So, I started this guy about 25 years or so ago. I was still using oils then. I wish I had a color reference. Maybe I should finish him.

    That's a bit of a classic Chazman (y) (and one of the few of Sid's which I haven't painted)

    Classic figure which looks great painted up - do finish him

    Do finish this , will you strip it first and start with a new medium ?

    The rank badges are white set on a scarlet backing and the book in his pocket can be any colour. The pill box cap has a gold lace band and white piping around the crown. Regimental badge gold coloured

    Something I found

    This is a colour Sgt circa 1894 if you fancy a conversion

    The rank and appointment designations on undress uniforms are quite confusing in the Guards regiments. This NCO wears the white drill jacket that was retained by the Guards and Highland regiments long after it had been discontinued in the other line infantry regiments. He is a high ranking sergeant, but not high enough to put him in Warrant Officer class. Ranks above Colour Sergeant wore a scarlet undress tunic. The sergeants of the Grenadier Guards wore, and still do, an embroidered grenade badge over the stripes. Above the grenade are crossed flags because he is an Assistant Instructor of Signalling. The crossed swords and crown badges are worn by Colour Sergeants in undress. The pillbox cap was worn by ranks below Warrant Officer. The cap band for sergeants was gold. Ranks below sergeant had red cap bands. His gilt cap badge had Queen Victoria's cypher on the round grenade.

    This is same uniform circa 1914 with a peaked Broderick cap

    The white drill jacket was only worn in the Guards and Highland regiments after 1830, and only by men below the rank of Warrant Officer and Staff Sergeant. It was made of thick felted wool, and kept clean with dry pipe clay. In 1907 there was a new pattern issued but by 1914 they were put into store for the duration of World War One. They were used unofficially after the war, at the Royal Tournament and Aldershot Tattoo, but by 1933 it had fallen from favour and was not worn again. The sergeants' chevrons were white on a red ground, and the grenade badge had a blue edge as well as the red ground. The private has two stripes for long service and good conduct. His medal ribbons include Boer War medals. The forage caps show the difference in peaks for the two ranks.

    This figure is one of the true 1/32nd Chota Sahib classics by the late great Sid Horton.

    It's also in Horan's old book, beautifully painted by him. He didn't do many stock figures so that probably tells you how special it is. Such a pity these are OOP.

    I've this one had it sitting in my GA for a very LONG time, waiting till I felt I could do it justice. Won't be long now!

    Actually, thanks to this pic, I noticed his swagger stick was broken off, front and back By some miracle, I was able to find both parts and repair.
