    Hi All

Acrylicos Vallejo has released the second Figure series color set. WEHRMACHT UNTEROFFIZIER EARLY WAR.

The package contains an exclusive Alpine Miniatures figure, sculpted by Taesung Harmms, and 8 MC colors suitable for painting german ww2 infantry.

The set includes a detailed step by step of the figure painting and a QR code to access to an extensive video illustrating the painting of the miniature by JAUME ORITZ

Nicely presented and marketed (with an exclusive figure to maybe make any "waverers" pull the trigger) but there's so many paint sets on the market now that are supposedly "specifically" for this, that or the other subject that you have to wonder when we'll reach saturation point with it. I for one lost track of them all long ago, there's just so many now.

Not saying there's no place for them, and I even bought a few myself when companies first started doing them, until I realised one day that if you're prepared to do some mixing and get a bit of experience in that department, you can probably get away with about 20-odd bog-standard Vallejos or Andreas and that will cover pretty much anything. I do know that I've got a fair few dropper-bottles in my paint rack that have never been touched, and most likely never will be.

I hear ya Steve. Vallejo and other companies are doing a lot more cross-promotion/packaging aimed at beginners or those wanting to expand their modelling repertoire. While advanced painters may not have a need for these sets, they should encourage others that don't have a lot of experience or a vast amount of paint drying up in storage, which should mean the hobby as a whole keeps on bringing in new blood. And that, is a good thing. It's rather incredible how often you get newer members on modelling forums asking what colour for this and that and sets like these are perfect for them. No need to stress over what individual bottles they should buy, and for a presumably decent discount (as opposed to buying separately), you get a good introductory set that'll hopefully be used for a long time and lead to more experimentation. The painting guides are also great so that new painters understand the basics of shading and mixing paint. Personally, I like to see what these sets offer so I can compare to what I normally use, as an example, I wouldn't have thought of Emerald Green for the collars (presumably). It's all good, even if it isn't a must buy for us old(er) hands.

Stupid question, where can you get hold of this kit?

I imagine it will be available through normal Vallejo/Alpine distributors shortly if not already.
