Starting life as Mitches Sgt Elias bust, I'm slowly but surely turning it into a British Chindit (I wanted a truly unkempt character). The hat needs a bit of tweaking but its taking shape

Having just completed a Chindit bust myself, I really love this. A great conversion and I wouldn’t have thought of using that Sgt Elias bust as a starting point. I look forward to seeing more of this..

Thanks. I love mitches busts. They are great as is but also lend themselves to all sorts of conversions.

I shall have to look at Mitches again for inspiration!
mine was based on a Gurkha from legion and like you I opened the shirt all the way down to the waist.
A reminder of how mine turned out….

I need to sort the hat so it sits a little better. The chest needs a few more coats to help blend things together. Maybe add a few chest hairs as well.

Muddied him up a bit, toned down the whites of the eyes, added some hair and so on. Repainted the hat to a colour closer to khaki.

Hmmm - I tried giving the flesh a satin varnish finish to make him look extra sweaty. Not happy with the finish but you never learn unless you try. The hat is almost right with colour and additional texture (stippled with AV putty).

Added matt varnish over a lot of flesh, just keeping a few sweaty patches. I think Ill leave this one for a while till I know where Im going with it.
