BMB, just to be clear, I was only making a joke. None of the busts are my thing, but companies need to do what sells, that's it.

I would love to see a WW2 hungarian soldier bust with the quality of Young, or even a full figure by Alpine, amongst other subjects, but I know that they would not be great sellers. So...thats it. :)

Can anyone recommend or suggest a US retailer that might have these? I like 'em but I'd like to avoid a large overseas shipping invoice.

    Any help would be great.

    Thank you,
    Steve

I totally agree. Couldn't have said it better. If you don't like it, don't buy it. The simple fact figures like this are made and put up for sale is the result of a lot of people who love to paint them.
And that alone should make us all very happy here.

Oh and btw......pulling up one side of your upper lip.....tried it and guess what....I CAN DO THAT!!

These releases seem to have generated a few rants.......... perhaps a might be wise for those concerned to drink less coffee or something.

But that's the point, we don't know because (as far as I'm aware) it's never been done before! If it's something a bit different that's done well, it might fly off the shelves.

I think that this "but Germans sell well" approach/argument is at least party a self-fulfilling prophecy: Germans are long-established on the market ... so they already have a large "fan-base" ... so manufacturers release yet more Germans ... which then sell ... so manufacturers think "hey! everyone wants Germans" ... so even more Germans get released .... (rinse & repeat ad infinitum).

Obviously manufacturers want to see a return on their investment. Which of course is fair enough, and no-one is actually saying "no more Germans please" (a point I think that's lost on the guys making the "just-be-grateful" comments above). Just that it would be nice if some manufacturers were a bit more adventurous a bit more often.

Sorry, I would REALLY like to see what everybody is "whinging" about. But I see no photos on the original posting. Kind of hard to judge anything from a question mark. Can anybody offer a link to photos of these models?

The problem is not just 'too many Germans', there's also to many French Currassiers, and don't get me started on Roman Centurions....

The real issue, in my opinion, is not that there are 'too many Germans', but to many SS MG gunners, and Tank commanders. And SS infantry... in very similar poses. A different scale, and target market, but Miniart really put a cat among the pigeons when they started bringing out there 1/35 crew sets "doing things". Fixing tracks, cleaning gunbarrels, climbering over vehicles, humping barrels on to trucks... mixing civilians and military (police), and generally the kind of stuff nobody else did. (Or in individual figures, often at £10 per figure or so..).

We would like to see some variety.

The original head on this one was a bit "cartoony". This new head, with its sublime painting, put it into another category altogether.

    Awesome!

    No whinging necessary.....
