Werner Voss - 1/24 - Model Cellar

Before there were 3-D printers, there was Mike Good. This is our third Voss figure sculpted by Mike. Each of the three figures (1/48, 1/32 and now 1/24) was individually sculpted by Mike, by hand, over the course of time. The slide in the gallery on our website shows all 3 figures side by side. (sorry, I couldn't seem to attach it here?). To sculpt a figure not once, not twice, but THREE times ...in 3 different scales... several years apart ...BY HAND !?! and nail the pose and likeness each time is just off the charts.

Patterned after the famous photograph of Voss standing in front of his Fokker Triplane, the likeness s AMAZING !

This 1/24 Voss figure will make a GREAT accessory for the new 1/24 Fokker kit by MENG.

Box art by Tim Farrell coming soon

    Lovely bit of sculpting
I painted my 54mm version a few years ago now when i first spotted the figure and had a good deal of fun with it - highly recommended. I might try the 1/24th version at some point as well . . . .
    Cheers

Same here, but I can't see 54mm anymore, and honestly, 75mm is pushing it. but in this case, worth it. I've already places an order for one

"Before there were 3-D printers, there was Mike Good."

Not military related at all, but to illustrate repetition on an industrial scale, pre -3D printers and CAD/CAM, this is what I used to do as a job. All by hand, all individual, all from scratch, in Plaster of Paris and clay, all to match..!!! Enjoy!!(y) Buttercup cowslip 1962 small.jpg

Hi Paul, this is my favourite pilot sculpt ever, so good to see it in 1/24. It's interesting to see the subtle differences from Mike in the sculpting of each one.
I hope with Meng's 1/24 Triplane there will be more 1/24 WW1 figures, I'm adding them to my Elan13 range, good to have more players in the field.

Thanks to one and all for the nice comments!! :)

This Voss figure has a special place in my pantheon, being the very first (of many!) figure I did for Model Cellar. And for those looking for alternate figures for the new Meng Triplane kit, I also did a Richthofen figure in 1/24th scale:

    Mike- Beautiful work as usual!

Now you have to sculpt one in 1/28 scale for the classic Revell Triplane kit...;)

    Have a good one...

!LOL!! Funny you should say such a thing. Actually it was supposed to be 1/28 for that old Revell kit. As there are no figures for the 1/28 kit (except for those red injection molded front/back "craptastic" (Mike Good's term) figures in the box). I had commissioned Mike to do a 1/28 Manfred followed by a 1/28 Voss. At just about the time we finished Richthofen, the announcement broke from MENG that they were doing a the 1/24 Fokker, So, we switched gears and did Voss in 1/24 instead. (and we already have Manfred in 1/24) Here are some preview pics of the 1/28 Richthofen (sculpted by Mike). Box art is by Randy Meyers. Randy built the kit to go along with it and did a SUPER job:

...formal 1/28 Manny announcement coming soon.
    Stay tuned =).

And here is our existing 1/24 Manny:
