Hi guys,

I’m running out of Magic sculpt, my go to epoxy putty to mix with Green stuff.

Magic Sculpt availability is not good and prices seem to have gone through the roof in the U.K.

Interested to know what would be a good and cheaper alternative to magic sculpt, that has the same working / curing property and can be blended with Greenstuff putty?

I've read that Aves Apoxy putty is very similar to Magic sculpt but I’ve never used it.

Looking for your recommendations?

I mix Greenstuff with grey green Miliput for certain bits - works a treat, for me!

I use Aves Apoxie Sculpt, but I don't know how similar or dissimilar it is to Magic Sculpt, because I've never used Magic Sculpt. I can say that it's similar to Milliput's finer grain, the Superfine Grain.

Apoxie Sculpt (aka A & B), is a two-part epoxy putty, it's got a fine grain to it, mixes easily, gives a good working time, and cures nice and hard. It can also be used for filling seams or gaps on models. When I work with it, I use a little water on a brush or fingertip to wet the putty to smooth it.

If you can get it, I recommend it.

Here is the link to Aves who makes Apoxie Sculpt https://avesstudio.com/ Great stuff to work with, I use it to fill bigger seams and gaps. I do use their Safety Solvent for smoothing. Good stuff nasty smell though

I have used plumbers putty for ground work, never tried it for anything else. I did check Amazon UK they do sell Apoxie Sculpt - smallest quantity was 1 lb.

I've used both and prefer Aves, for what it's worth.

That's old-school, I love it! Back before anyone made such products specifically for modelers, you went to the hardware store and got plumber's putty.
For filling seams, using auto body putty is a similar old-school solution.
