Excellent work and an invaluable thread. To me, your approach on the chain mail looks fine and convincing. One of the hardest things to replicate at this scale is the weight of the mail, which hangs and moves in a very particular way and I think that you have achieved a realistic form which looks very convincing. Keep up the good work.

Also the horse sculpture is first class, especially for a first attempt.

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement!
It is a new venture for me, but it's very enjoyable :)

Proceeding with the saddle-the late Sassanids adopted the framed saddle with saddle-bow (or pommel) from Huns, Hephtalites etc., which replaced the horned saddle.
I used plasticard for the frame, it will have leather cover on it.

Simultaneously with the horse equipment I will make the rider, starting with the mannequin and adjusting the pose. He will hold the famous "kontos" spear, 4-4.5m in length (16-18cm in 1/24), with both hands and the body will lean slightly forward.
Probably I will replace the spear shaft with brass rod.

    Hi,

I received my Beesputty tripple firm this Monday, and I wanted to try my first face sculpting. It will be another subject, but I will open a separate topic when practicing a bit ;)
I like the material, holds detail well and blends really nice. I didn't bake it yet, the bulking is Procreate epoxy putty. It will have beard and hair also, I hope you like it :)

Time to move forward my sculpts :)

New horse from Fimo professional and Bessputty tripple firm. I mixed a bit of the latter to the Fimo for the main body, because it holds the bulk better, Bessputty for detail and corrections.
It tuned out better than the Magic sculp in my opinion-I used it for the tail.
And I did it quicker this time, for a week, 1-2 hours per day :)

Next the saddle and the armor, I hope to finish it this week.

I have some testing of the 3D print (the project is almost ready :) ), to se how the chainmail and the overall small detail will look, like rivets etc. I really like how it turned out, I even painted it :)

Yes, I will make copies/commercial, maybe after the Holydays. I only have to tune the 3D printing a bit more for best result. But even now I cannot see layer lines with naked eye, with paint it is impossible to see :)
