Hello all hoping to get back to the hobby by the end of the year in anticipation of that getting some supplies in order. Hoping one or all of these glass plates can be used for a oil paint pallet? What d9 you think ?

Gawd Almighty Rob I really hope you're taking the piss :D
But in the possibility you're not. white paper to extract the oil and then on to a plain white saucer.
For (and here comes the Spanish Inquisition for me) Christ sake just paint something :D
You've given us years of irritating pleasure, keep up the good work (y)

I don't use oils for my main painting but wise words from Del ....you certainly need to allow the excess oil to use properly

Hope the health gets better soon and we see your painting

if you have oil colors the easiest thing is to buy the specific palette in tear-off sheets.

are white and absorb a little the oil colors. you can find them in an art shop

If one uses a glass surface, taping white (or light gray) paper on the outside of the bottom gives a bit of reference. I also have used the pad of paper pallets.

My go-to oil pallet is a cheap 150mm square white ceramic wall tile.
I've had two for the past 20 odd years, and so far, have only needed one.
As for removing excess oil, I've found folded toilet paper soaks out the oil immediately. A cocktail stick provides a speedy transfer to the 'pallet'.
I also use the paper tear-off pallet pad, which I cut up into sensible sizes. Needles to say, that's been around for ages as well.

    Cheers,

How would it work if you could stand at a raised bench? I'm thinking of the same setup as is now popular in offices, a standing desk, that raises the work surface high enough to be practical for standing. I used one, till we bugged out for the lockdown, and I didn't take it, because I didn't have a desk big enough to fit it. But I liked the idea of raising and lowering it and variously standing and sitting. I'm not saying you need to buy that kind of apparatus, just asking whether you could stand at a raised work surface, without the discomfort of sitting for a stretch.

    Prost!
