Here is my box art painting of the 1/6 bust from Dog Tag Models. Masterfully sculpted by Nino Lorenzoni.

Magnus - nice seeing you bringing Nino’s sculpting to life.
Especially good to get better sense of your painting approach too. For example that left eye glint gives feel how powerful a well placed highlight can be.
    What colour have you used?

    Thank you very much Mike!

My palette for the full figure consists of Cold yellow, Orange, Red and Phtalo blue red shade from Kimera and Ivory, Royal purple and Black from Vallejo.

My start for almost everything is orange mixed with blue red shade and the adding ivory depending on how light I want it to be. With varying the proportions I can get a lot of variations from just those three colors. A little blue and you get a basic skin tone, little less blue than fifty-fifty and you get a nice grey and more blue and you get a dirty nice blue. Adding yellow to the mix and you get the khaki, I used more orange for the shirt to make it more brown and variation from the jacket. For the skin I used the base skin mix and adding red for a warmer brown tone, purple for medium shade around cheeks, varying the highlights with yellow in the top highlights and fading to more red or pink. I used more blue and red for the shadows and more blue and yellow for the beard stubble. Black I used for pupils and the darkest shade of the beard and hair. For weathering of the helmet I used oils on top of my painted helmet to fade it and make some streaks. Ouch, became a long and incoherent post, but just ask if you are interested to know about something specific :D

Goodness what a rich explanation in your approach Magnus.
Get depth of thought & understanding of palette colours at a primary level. This reply is one that will have me thinking for a long time.
Thanks for taking time to teach by detailing this & I was able to see more in Tom’s face from your description & high quality photos.
More study to be done sensei
