    From "Il Volto del Comando"
    Sculptor : Piersergio Allevi
    54mm Resin

For once, the subject is not Italian, but French and has a famous name!
    Auguste François-Marie de Colbert-Chabanais
He was killed in Spain, by an Irish private from the 95th Rifles, Thomas Plunkett !
Two of his brothers were also General of the Empire.
The most famous being Pierre David de Colbert-Chabanais, known as Édouard de Colbert-Chabanais, Colonel of the Red Lancers!
His other brother Louis-Pierre-Alphonse, Count of Colbert-Chabanais did not obtain his General stars until 1814

The death of Auguste François-Marie de Colbert-Chabanais

Thomas Plunkett of the 95 Th Rifles killing General Auguste de Colbert-Chabanais

Tom was a real sniper, the crack of the 95 Th Rifles cracks. He was one of the most unruly men in the Regiment, but he was fit, athletic, quick and in the prime of life, with gray eyes and a handsome presence. He rose to fame during the Coruna retreat in Spain, when running in front of the lines, he lay down, leaned his Baker rifle between his crossed feet, adjusted General de Colbert and lodged a bullet in his forehead ... he knocked down a few. seconds later the officer came to help General de Colbert.

Collapsing after being hit in the forehead by Plunkett, General Auguste François-Marie de Colbert-Chabanais exclaimed:
“I am still very young to die; but at least my death is that of a soldier of the grand army, since in dying I see the last and the eternal enemies of my country flee! ".
It would seem that like many Riflemen in the event of success ... Plunkett received Shillings for the death of the flamboyant General de Colbert-Chabannais!
