Just a quick shout-out in praise of Legion Miniatures in Russia. I was going to do a proper review with parts photos etc. but I just don't have the time right now. So this will have to do.

This morning I took delivery of a pair of their figures, the 120mm "Warrior of the Apocalypse" and the 90mm "Viking 10th Century". This guy is sporting the baggy "Rus" style trousers that the Vikings adopted on their raiding & trading expeditions to what are now western Russia and the Ukraine.

Both come in a beautiful laser-cut wood box that carries photos and figure/company info on every face except the underside. I'm not usually a fan of laser-cut boxes, in my experience the ones used by other companies have always been various combinations of 1) too small with the contents crammed in 2) no labelling so unclear what's inside 3) awkward to open 4) just fall to bits. But these boxes are very, very nice indeed, just from looking at them you feel that you have a quality product in front of you.

The figures themselves are superbly cast in light grey resin, with lovely crisp detail and logical parts breakdowns. The Viking is a one-piece casting except for his left hand (holding his axe), his dagger, his shield and his belt pouch, and the large thick pegs on the underside of his feet slot perfectly into the mating holes on the (basic) base supplied, so if like me you'll be incorporating the kit base into the groundwork, that should eliminate the need for pinning here.

Very little clean-up will be needed as there's just minimal "hoar frost" flash here & there, and only one casting seam line that I've found so far (and even that's very faint).

Our Russian friends have been setting the standard & the pace in the hobby for some time now, and these pieces are up there with the very best in terms of quality and presentation.

My 2-figure order came very well packed in plenty of shrink and bubble wrap. And the delivery time was acceptable, especially in view of the covid-related delays that we've been experiencing (ordered from Russia 22nd March, delivered to my door in the UK 7th April).

Summary: Highly recommended, and anyone thinking of placing an order with this company can buy with confidence. This was my first Legion Miniatures order, but on this showing definitely not my last.

I've had nothing but a great experience with Legion. Top notch customer service. The Russians (Legion, Medieval Forge, etc) are setting the standard on topic selection, quality and service.

Just a quick question, Mrs Helm has just ordered something for my birthday, but struggled a bit with the web stite, is it normal for them to send an invoice, then ask for payment? She's not if she's ordered it correctly or not :D
    Cheers

Hi Steve, quite normal mate to be sent a PayPal invoice, it enables them to calculate postage for multiple purchases.
