    This a 1/10 bust sculpted by Matt Grech for his El Greco range, and depicts a Confederate soldier of the American Civil War;

    Painted with Vallejo Model Colour acrylics, as usual.

    Morning Peter

    Lovely work, as it has already been said on a limited palette.

    Your leather work is super too.

    What do you use as a base colour for the pale complexion?

    I had tried Vallejo 876 Brown sand, but it seems too ""healthily"" tanned for a Luftwaffe pilot?

    What would you use?

    Hopefully no more aches from the jab and another victim on the bench

    Have a good day with the paints

    Regards

    Steve H

    Excellent work as always, Peter - I like your shading & highlights on the jacket, & the worn leatherwork is very realistic.

    Steve - Morning. The palette for the flesh is: Black Red, Dark Red, Magenta, Vermillion, Flat Flesh and Off White. I use the flat flesh as a base to which the other colours are added. I tend to prefer a lighter skin tone these days, and that is achieved by adding increasing amounts of white to the flat flesh to build up the highlights. Jabbed arm much better thanks. Probably a Celt next.

    Chris - Glad you like him. I love painting drapery, but it has taken me a long time to find the nerve to push the contrasts. I don't often go for worn leather as I find it quite difficult to do, so I'm pleased that it appears to have worked here.
