    Hi All
I'm new to the blueish Uniforms of Napoleon Periode and newer French armies and it looks like I'm having difficulties with Blue Uniforms.

What color do you use as a base color for these foreign legion coats ? I've tried SC-52, but after drying it looks much to blue. What would you suggest.

If it's drying too blue to your eyes adding some grey would be my first suggestion.
If it still looks too vivid then adding some complementary colour (orange) will tone it down.

    Hope that helps
    Paul

ps - As has been discussed in other threads about colour for uniforms it's all a bit subjective anyway since dyes are fugitive by nature and assuming the uniform manufacturer used the correct quantity of the correct dye exposure and washing alter the colour significantly. That's before we get into discussing 'scale effect' and how dust affects its appearance :)

Being an oily one, I cannot give any suggestions in acrylics, but the officer's coat should be much darker than the greatcoats of the rank & file.

French officer's uniform jackets were almost black in appearance and in fact their gala uniforms still are, see for example the uniform of the Garde républicaine or the Saint-Cyriens to give you an idea.

    Cheers,

    Pierre
