    Evening all,

Been lurking for a while so thought I best sign on the line, been modelling for most of 48 years
on the planet mostly armour models with the odd aircraft thrown in for good measure. I had a bit of break from the hobby where I decided to get the ultimate research session in and joined up. Served 12 years in the British Army until the body decided to let me know that I needed to take things more easy.

Living now in North Wales and found that I wanted to improve my figure painting skills to compliment some of the AFV's that I enjoy building. Currently working on the Tamiya M10 and the crew and struggling a little with getting them up to a good standard.

    Progress so far.

Not totally brilliant so I'm hoping to pick up some tips, especially on blending.
As you can tell I'm using mainly Vallejo paints.

    Regards

Very welcome here Dan. Nice M10, & the figures aren't too shabby either - my uncle used to drive an M10c Achilles in WW2, & my late Dad was Royal Signals (transferred from infantry) in the same conflict.
You'll find plenty to float your boat on here, stay tuned.

Thank you all for the warm welcome,
Pretty sure I’ll be throwing around a few questions guys as the standard of work here on PF is amazing and really aspiring. Very much enjoying going through some of the posts and WIPs, really brings it home that I have a lot to learn.

Welcome! The photos you've shared look like you're off to a pretty good start :). I'm another tread-head who happens to enjoys figures as well. I've only been (regularly) visiting for a month or two at this point, but I'm really enjoying it here. Hope you do, too!

    Hi Dan
M10 looks very good - not overdone. You could get some nice weathering effects with artists pastels without making it look OTT. The gunner's jacket looks like the M41 Parsons Jacket, rather than the armoured troops windcheater, so the colour is close to right. Maybe a little darker, but not a lot. Tanker helmet looks nice too.
