Interestingly the fourth photo down shown a Higgins type landing craft for the carrying of limbers, carts etc. Unfortunately most troops were carried by naval cutters.

Ive posted this before, I think,but its relevant to the thread. My great uncle Albert with his family, prior to embarkation to Egypt, then on to Gallipoli....

A lovely picture to have, and a wealth of interesting detail on clothing of the period. I'm guessing Mum, Albert, Dad, and brother and sister at the back?

Hi Phil, yes, his dad (my great grandad), stepmum, half-brother (my grandad) and half-sister (my great aunt), taken in early 1915. Albert had enlisted when war broke out and was a driver in the RFA. He was injured by a runaway mule and suffered a fractured skull. After convalescing in the UK, he was re enlisted into the KOYLIs and sent to Egypt for training for the Gallipoli landings. He survived the Gallipoli campaign and was then sent to Palestine and Mesopotamia and was transferred to the N Staff Rgt, where he saw out the war, returning to the UK in 1918 and resumed his job as a coachbuilder at Stoke on Trent station.

Well, quite a varied career in uniform, and survived Gallipoli too. Coincidentally my paternal grandfather was a Battery Sgt in the RFA. He joined up in 1908. After demob he joined the Oxford City police and eventually got his three stripes there too.
