Stunner Mike best job I've seen on this figure. Any tips on the gold for us mere mortals?

Hi Jimmy.....and thank you.....the gold braiding does take a bit of time..... I finish in oils over acrylic undercoat....
I finish the uniform colour first, in this case blue....and as I'm doing that I clean up the braid with a small brush moistened with white spirit...work in small sections at a time.....
The braid is then carefully painted with an orche colour......allow to dry and then wash with thinned burnt umber oil paint....when totally dry I use gold oil, orche oil and yellow oil.....knock the gold back with a little orche.....you don't want a metallic gold on the braid....paint small strokes with the gold leaving small gaps...repeat with the orche and then yellow.... don't rush and small sections at a time....have a go....Mike
