    Hi guys,

The second figure of the three-figure vignette I'm working on is now finished. This one depicts a Captain of the 7th Cavalry. 54mm Andrea, painted with acrylics. Thanks for looking!

Fantastic, admire all your work Jason, figure could easily portray Miles Keogh , which maybe I think it was designed to do, excellent (y)

Superb painting as usual, but I think a lighter background would have shown him up even better.

Pitch black seems to be the "default" backdrop for photographing figures these days, but I don't think it always works well with pieces that are mainly painted in darker colours. They tend to get swallowed up by the blackness.

I would have to agree with Steve. I'm sure this piece would look good in any light ; and as good as the black background looks to enhance the piece, I'm not sure I'm a fan as I think it will not be how it looks in natural daylight. No matter, excellent piece of paintwork and sure to be an excellent vignette.

That's going to be a pretty cool vignette you're putting together Jason. I like it. I was just at the battle site recently so it sparked my interest again. Then you come out with these beautiful pieces. As usual great painting buddy.

I agree! This is a pretty dark figure, so a lighter background would maybe be better; however, I'm not much of a photographer. I don't have a fancy setup or use photoshop to change backgrounds or anything like that. I just take these pics at my painting desk, which provides the black background.
