Google has loads of photo images of real leopard skins that provide excellent reference for the complex patterns. I think your version is a bit too orange, and the dark brown dot patterns could do with a bit more work. A good start.

Yes, I looked at the images available on the web and found there was a good bit of variation. Also, my sources say some of the skins used by the hussars were "other" animals with the spots dyed on.

Thanks for the comments. I'm not quite done yet, but found it was much easier to do than I had anticipated.
