I was wonder if this Bust as is could be painted as a member of the Camel Corps? Or would he require major changes? Thank you for any help. Regards, Brock. Also would anyone know where this bust might be purchased in the USA.

If it is that bust, then yes, it can be painted up as Camel Corps, but would need the collar badges removing, as they werent worn with the blue grey drill tunic. Different regiments often had coloured cloth ID stitched to the upper arms of the tunic. (y)

The former curator of the Guards Museum told me that the coloured cloth ID badges were often cut from the scarlet tunics that had been packed away for the duration of the campaign.

So I believe, too, Pete. There are also reports of regiments who were returning to the UK swapping grey tunics for newer red ones with other regiments!!(y)

Its a bit of a minefield, tbh. The Camel Corps was formed as a type of Mounted Infantry unit, from several different regiments, both infantry and cavalry. They were equipped with a mix of cavalry and infantry equipment and, technically, the leather braces are specifically infantry issue. The Cavalry versions crossed over the chest. But, as none of us were there and regulations were seldom adhered to, especially on campaign, who's to say, with any certainty, Id take the risk......!!(y)

Bock, the only hope for finding that bust on this side of the pond might be Michigan Toy Soldiers. Don't know, but also do not know of any other possible source.
