Superb set piece and pretty faithful to the photo (probably a set-up shot in a lull in the fighting?).

I can't quite see if Reynolds and the rifleman next to him have their fags burning as per the pic ... a nice touch if they have.

Good follow up on the history.. anything known about the other three?

Wow, what a super well detailed vignette! That is what I call a ton of detail and character. Not something I would tackle as I am a very slow painter, but I look forward to seeing someone paint it up!

Exactly - maybe something that should be remembered by the "Another German/Nazi"-Chorus - one could easily say that these add to the many models of Brit Paras and that the average British Tommie in regular battledress is very underrepresented in this hobby. No one is saying this either - obviously the nationality of a miniature will suffice for the moaners.

I like this scene very much and it makes up a great vignette. Although there is quite a number of British Paras available this group tells the story of a bridge too far perfectly IMHO. The historical picture this group is based on shows one feature that I still miss in the models available and that seems to be hard to pull off: The smocks of the British Paras in action looked always lumpy and bulky and lost their neat shape that is shown on the miniatures.

And one more observation: the soldier on the right side has his bayonet fixed in the original picture - easy to add if you like.
Very nice sculpting and great price - keep them coming those Brits, Germans and else!

I have included the cigarettes on both figures but unfortunately the one in Cpl Reynolds hands did not survive the casting, that can always be added by the modeler.
I do not know any details about the other three in the photo but will look more into it.

Martin... Good point about the smocks, it is something that I agree is very hard to get right, I will be studying this more for the future as it is a critical part of WW2 British Paras, they looked a rag tag bunch especially after a couple of days into the fighting.

Very nice like the subject matter

Driving to work a number of years ago, I heard an interview with a German parachute infantry veteran from WW2, who said that yes - the German paras were an elite force - but that the British paratroops were also exceptionally high quality troops. An elite also.

It was nice to hear that mutual respect crossed a huge divide.

Us brits have always looked like a bag of shite, especially when compared to our opponents as seen below. That said my money is on the Sgt every time if it comes to a scrap
