Kev, for the folds and most of big area's work i use a combination of Magic sculp mix with a little bit of Brown stuff, for the hair and minor details i use green stuff.

Almost done with this chap, as you noticed, the back of the tail coats are not done yet, the purpose is to place the figure on the horseback and then build the rest of the tail, i want to make a realistic look of the folds laying over the equipage on the back of the saddle., a more natural and realistic look. 20200501_000930.jpg 20200501_000947.jpg

And these chaps are almost close to be cometed except for the back of their coat tails and some outlining and fixing areas of the lace work.
The horses should arrive pretty soon.
For the trumpet i have used the original part that came with this figure, being a AWI part it was much shorter than the long french one of the SYW, so i did some moda using plastic parts, sanding them and some putty.

Taking a littpe break from my 28mm Grenadiers de France to continue some work on these 40mm chaps.
I still have few figures and will convert some.
Here is one i've started yesterday.
Original figure is, again from Triguard miniatures SYW Mounted French officer.
Perfect figure to convert to many other corps of cavalry.
He'll be a Gendarme de la Garde du Roi, and will be on horseback along the trumpeter and perhaps a banner bearer..
I have placed a head that was already painted from a figure that was " decomissioned". 20231202_154528.jpg 20231202_154555.jpg 20231202_154614.jpg
