    Evening all
Following on from my recent ECW Mike Blank figure I've gone all Swedish and bought this fella from Steve at SK Miniatures. :)

It's another MB sculpt this time a tad larger than my usual 54 mm (75 mm in fact) Cast in a light grey resin it arrived earlier this week and in no time at all was cleaned up and ready for a lick of paint. I did re-make the sword blade from some sheet brass (which took longer than the clean up) and this, together with the scabbard, was left off till the model was painted and based up then they were glued on and painted.

No painting instruction were included although there's a nice picture on the box for reference. The whole lot was painted in my usual acrylics over the course of the week and the base was made up from DAS with various bits and bobs to add interest. I'm making a concious effort to pushi the contrasts a bit more these days and the face, being larger means you can develop a real 'character' with paint.
I was interested to notice that Steve has a rather nice range of MB figures so I'm sure I'll be adding a few more over the coming months - they do paint up rather nicely and are full of character.

Cheers Wolfgang - Really enjoyed painting the face (as you can tell) and at this scale you can add some real character to them. (y)
    Thanks

It's beautiful Paul! You were very successful adding contrast. It's very effective. (y)(y)(y)

And the groundwork is perfect. You know I love groundwork, and yours is very well done.

Hi Paul :). I think it's a very nice result. I like the contrasts in his face. The whole character is very nice. Also the terrain, although simple, fits very well with the character, even in color. Very good job :)

    Cheers Borek :)

    Hi Paul

You don't waste much time ...well spent at the bench ...like the facial features and flowing locks he has ....nice casual pose as well ...all painted well and presented on a nice groundwork

    Thanks for sharing

Why not enter something into FOTM as well as voting in previous month

    Happy benchtime

    Hi Paul,
You have a very understated way of painting which I particularly like.

    Thanks gents.
Nice figure to paint. It took me a while to get 'into it' and then suddenly it started to come together :)
I was explaining to Kev (Nap) how the gloves and scabbard seemed okay then when I based it they popped out too much so I had to go back over them and increase the contrast and then darken them down after which the blue shadows needed deepening even more, but eventually I was happy with the overall balance.
I tried not to overwork it too much since I quite like a 'painterly effect' rather than a highly finished look (probably explains why I prefer Gaugin to Constable) Anyway it's a great figure and Steve has some others on his site which look just as interesting . . .
    Cheers
