    Hi folks,

Some progress pics of the crew figures Im sculpting for my Model T desert tender, as used in the Arab Revolt, as service vehicles for the armoured cars used by TE Lawrence.

All done in Milliput over a wire armature, heads roughly sketched out ATM, so that I can get the shirts and webbing sorted. Puttees added from thin masking tape. hands also roughed out, but will be added later. Heads will be refined further, then faces and headwear dealt with. ATM, Im thinking of a service cap, with neck curtain on one and solar topi on the other, but that may change!

    Thanks for looking in,(y)

Great sculpts, Steve - the masking tape puttees look particularly impressive; I can remember struggling with the actual items when I first joined up, so I can imagine how hard it must have been to get the right number of steps in thin strips of Tamiya tape!

Cheers, Chris! I can imagine they were bloody hot to wear, in the desert - big strips of serge cloth tightly wrapped around the legs...!!

    Keep on keeping on!!(y)

    Hi Steve

Great to see you posting updates on this project and it's good and interesting to see how the putty work is coming to shape

Those putties look really good ...patience isn't the word

    Like your idea on headwear

Are you working to a particular image ?

    Look forward to seeing more

    Happy benchtime

Cheers Kev. No, not working on any particular image, its mostly coming from my head...! Im using contemporary photos for uniform details, etc, but the car and figures have evolved over about 3 years!(y)

Some progress pics - hands added from waste moulds made from other hands Ive previously done! No point in reinventing the wheel, eh?

Now to get properly shaping the forearms and elbows and blending in at the wrists, prior to adding the shirts, etc. Faces and headgear will be last on the list. Im going to omit webbing and pouches in favour of braces and bandoliers, as I figured that sitting for a long time in the heat, wearing webbing would not have been comfortable!! (y)

More progress on these two. Headgear, braces attached, boots reshaped and ears remodelled. Bandoliers to be added, then a final check over and cleanup, then on to all the paraphernalia to be loaded on...(y)

    Hi Steve

Always good to see your bench time results

It's all in the details and this is going to look great ...I like the choice of headwear and the natural position of the figures

It's got a real period feel about the piece

Following this with interest ..especially the car storage and weapons choice

    Happy benchtime

Made up some cotton bandoliers from plastic strip and foil. These will be detailed up, once set, with Duro closures and straps. Then onto cap badge for the passenger and all the stuff to go in the truck body. Just waiting on some petrol cans, spare tyres and other bits and pieces to arrive from the caster....!(y)

Cheers Kev - Ive got a kit bag in mind, the usual supply paraphernalia, petrol cans, water barrel or two, two SMLEs mounted on the scuttle, or thereabouts, some map cases, sun goggles on the figures, etc. Then I have to paint it all - Ill have to see how long the mojo stays active for......!!(y)

Sounds great stowage you have planned ...always interesting to see your sculpting from a lump of putty to this ....not only the figures but also the vehicle

May the mojo stay active for you

They look just brilliant, Steve - the detail on that pith helmet is simply off the scale.
