HI All,
new to this site and a returning figure painter

I used to paint tabletop gaming figures, moved away from that to static modelling (planes and cars( and am now getting interested in going back into figure painting.

I am mainly interested in Ancient and medieval figures.

my question is this, I like to look of both the 54mm and 75mm scales, can someone please list the positives and negatives of both

also is 54mm equal to 1/32 scale and 75mm equal to 1/24 scale

any info you can provide will be most appreciated

Welcome Gaz, good time to be into Medieval figures there are some great releases in 75mm lately from companies like Medieval Forge etc.

54mm or 1/32

not equals in size
54mm means thet all figures; all period are 54mm high from the sole to the eyes
1/32 means that all actual size are reduced by 32 a guy of 1m80 reduced to 56,5mm from the sole to top of the head; a guy of 1m60 reduced to 46,87 mm, alas the vast majority of set makers in 1/32 believes thet all men are 1m80

Hi Gaz,

I still predominantly paint Wargame 28mm, but do venture into 54, 75mm and 200mm busts.

It really depends upon what turns you in, the period you like, and how skilled you are at detail. The larger the scale the higher the detail.
