I think it's a great idea for those who like dioramas and stuff like that.

Absolutely: I can see them making an appearance in many a setting.

I rather fancy a fig lying flat about to yank the string of a trap trying to catch his supper:

MiniArt do a great range of such diorama add-ons.

I can see these making an appearance in possibly a WW1 signals diorama, or maybe downed WW2 aircrew in a dinghy releasing pigeons as a distress signal.

Yes, or perhaps Dick Dastardly and the Vulture Squadron?

PS: I wonder if there'll be an etched detailing set so you can add rings to their legs?

    Like here?

A rather large pigeon to my eyes... more like a chicken really?

Always great to see more animals to add to dioramas.

That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of Neil, although I hadn't seen the set you showed when I typed it - I was thinking of the cover of an old Victor comic annual from the 1960s.

Can't beat a bit of D.C. Thompson fare...…..still enjoy reading the annuals, probably 'cos my parents wouldn't buy them for me when I was a kid!

I still have a large box full of Commando books from the early to mid '70s. Plus a handful of "Battle Picture Library" and "War Picture Library", but to me those always seemed like a poor relation, probably because of the slightly smaller format (the stories were generally no better or worse).

Massively quotable stuff (as you noted above), my favourite of all was a U.S. Marine battling the Japs on some Pacific Island and coming out with "Watch me pick off their officer, that guy in the old field boots". I've never forgotten that :D .

But not to derail the thread ... yes a useful set, and finally something to populate my Plus Model pigeonry!

It's the little things that can make a big difference in a vignette or diorama. I really like that Miniart is adding more "life" to the model market.

I think these pigeons would be very well received because they indicate motion of models. If a pigeon is sitting on a car or boat, then the boat is slow enough to prevent it from flying away. If the pigeon flaps its wings, then perhaps the vehicle or boat is moving faster to prevent the bird from sitting on it.

I wonder how many people will flock to buy these, a lofty risk by Miniart in releasing them and I wonder if they’ll be homing in on other fringe subjects?
