All shadows from the figures are drawn.
Extra light was set high on top.
If there is light from the sun, then new shadows will appear.

So, the firelight effects are painted but, as I guessed, down-lighting produced the 'moonlight' highlights on the roof, upper edges of the stone, helmets/halberd?

Stunning work, a very artistic way of presenting the figures and such imaginative portrayals always stand out from the crowd.

Yes. In the story, the moon shines from above.

The concept, the narrative, and the execution of this piece are all superb - it works on every level.and is a joy to look at........masterful !
