Just took quick pictures with my mobile, in poor light.It's something i always do so i can spot mistakes that my old eyes cannot see.

Funnily enough Brian I was doing exactly the same with a model recently (Before mobiles and computers I used to hold the model up to a mirror to get a fresh perspective - surprising what you pick up when doing this)

Do I detect painted texture in the inside of that cloak .

sometimes when you take a picture of a model it gives a bit of a shock when you see all you have missed

Brian, knowing that you paint in oils and looking at your great results can I ask if you paint and blend the base coat, shadows and highlights all in one sitting while everything is wet or do you let the base coat dry and then apply the shadows and highlights?

I start of with wet on wet over a humbrol enamel undercoat,then I eventually finish it with wet on dry.

Thanks for the reply, that's where I am at with the oils at the moment only I use Vallejo for the undercoat having found that the Matt Humbrols can dry glossy, of course this can happen with the acrylics as well so I add Tamiya X-21 to be sure of a Matt finish however I had an issue with this recently that the surface was so Matt that as soon as the oils hit it they where instantly absorbed and in an attempt to work on the oils were turning to grit on my brush lol, well talk about using bad language and throwing a major hissy fit, love your work you certainly have developed a nice style that is carried through on all of your subjects.

Terry the oils tend to be thinned with turps with this method which generally solves the problem of drying out to fast and undercoats applied as close as possible to the finish colour ,.

I tend to use Tamiya as undercoat as much as possible as they are the best when it comes to air brushing with less paint drying on the needle point and they have just the right tooth for oils also it lets you work without fear of lifting the undercoat with diluted oils .

I am lucky enough to be able to see most of Brians stuff in the flesh as he doesn't stay all that far from me , but they do have some strange habits in Ayrshire just ask Del
