Wounded Comrades

    Roger De Boeck asked me to post his latest vignette. It's based on a relatively famous WWI photo of 2 wounded soldiers. One is attempting to help the other get to his feet and move up a steep hill. I believe the soldiers in the photo are German, but am not certain. The rifle on the ground is apparently a Mauser and the soldier at the back appears to be wearing a German coat, but, as I say, I'm not positive. If anybody knows more about the photo, feel free to comment.

    Anyway, something struck a chord in Roger. In an e-mail to me, he says he couldn't get it out of his head. It was the idea of two friends helping each other that provoked the sculpting. In his vignette, the two soldiers are (what else!?) Belgian and Chasseurs a pied. The scale is 120mm.
