    Hello!

Here is another nice figure from Georgi Stamov, this time of Varangian guard with an axe :)
We have one large piece of the whole body, which I like, makes assembly minimal. Separate parts of the hands and the weaponry-large axe, a small axe on the waist and a long knife. Small base is included.
The warrior is strong built, with a good protection of mail shirt over gambeson, steel helmet with chainmail veil. On the legs he has steel planks, held with rivets.
On top of the mail shirt there is leather cuirass for additional protection.
All folds are nicely sculpted, the chainmail looks very good, not just punched holes.
The hands are also very well protected with gloves and leather plates on top.

Overall another excellent figure from Georgi, with wide possibilities for painting of clothes, steel and leather armor :)
    Highly recommended!

    You mean historical accuracy?
Those guys were usually lavishly equipped.

"The whole thing" as you say, is something I've spend about 2 month to sculpt, to make the molds, and to make some first quality copies. As historian , as education, I believe that the reenactor, witch pictures I have used as references, recreated pretty well the Viking (Varangian) outfit at this era...
That's what I believe... Is it true, or not I don't know...
I don't pretend that the figure is 100% historically accurate, but in my opinion equipment, as on the reenactor picture is very possible for 10th-11th century.

I think that beside leather vest (I wonder whether it wouldn't be more appropriate to use scale or lamellar armour) the biggest problem are protective gloves. Even reenactor himself admits that they are totally hoax.
IMHO these two with addition of steel planks makes him look somewhat more like goaltender rather than Varengian at first glance ;)

    Still it's a great sculpt!
