    Hola Guys!

Here is the bust I sculpted in the process of being painted.

Im trying somethign new with this one, here is the bust base coated and one highlight added. I started off with a tonal graduation in the base coat from dark to light, then highlights will be added from this. It may or may not work, seams like it should though!

    Hello Anders,

    This looks very promising.
How you achieve the eye's. So lifelike with the catchlight in it.

    Hello Anders!

How are you going to tackle the eyebrows?
It looks like they could do with some more definition?

    Cheers

    Hola Guys,

Thanks Dave! I was thinking it would work in theory, but wasnt sure how it would be in practice, but now that you confirmed I am very pleased!

    Marc,

The eyes are acctually very simple to do. What I do is to paint the eyeball white, then add 814 as a wash then reinforce the outlining with more 814 to outline the eyes. Afther this is dry I use Andrea Prussian blue straight from bottle to make the eyeballs, this will be the darkest part of the eyeball. Andrea Napoleonic Blue is then mixed with prussian blue to make the first 'highlight', the second and third highlights are Nappy blue and then with white added for the second highlight. The placement of the highlights are generally like this:

First is a general that covers the whole eye, leaving just a small dark outline of the eye.

Second is usually put in the middle of the first highlight

Third is placed like a U shaped 'swoosh' in the lower portion of the eye

Then once this is done, a pure black pupil is added and a pure white catchlight is then added, slightly overlapping the pupil. Sometimes after this a coat or two of future is added, however no future has been put on this guy yet.

    Tjena Janne,

I dont want him to have too bushy eyebrows, so I will paint them on using fine brush strokes, I dont think that eyebrows is a nessessity to be sculpted on, as if done wrong or to heavy it looks like crap, while you can paint them on fairly easily.

    Hey Anders!

Looks great. Your eyes are some of the best in the business. Thanks for your technique. I really like the idea of a last highlight being a u shaped shwoosh. That makes total sense. I will try that on my next bust. I'm sure i cant do that in 54mm.

    Hola Brad!

Thanks! Im glad my breif rundown was of some help! I am painting a 35th scale guy at the same time as two busts, so belive me I know how tough they are to paint. Here is a shot of my sad attampt at painting a 35th scale head and eyes.

    Hola Guys!

Got the body and face finished now, just the tanker helmet to go!

Here are a few inprogress pics until tomorrow when I will show the finished piece. Some things has been changed on the head since these pics, some fine tuning in the blending and some eyebrows!
